BIG4 MacDonnell Range Holiday Park have just celebrated their 30th birthday! To celebrate 30 years of providing the ultimate Alice Springs holiday experience, they put on a huge free family fun day attended by more than 600 people! To mark the occasion, parks owner Brendan and Bev Heenan, along with a team of park staff, whipped up more than 550 pancakes and cooked more than 500 snags for the hungry crowd of well-wishers.
In true Northern Territory style, visitors were also treated to camel rides, a didgeridoo performance, face painting for kids, a bouncy castle and live entertainment. Guests of the slithering kind also made an appearance thanks to a presentation from the local Alice Springs Reptile Centre.
“We’re overwhelmed by the support from the local community and would like to thank everyone who came along to share our special day with us,” Brendan said.
“We’ve had so many lovely phone calls and emails thanking us for a great family day out. It’s really heart-warming to see a real sense of community alive and kicking in Alice Springs,” Brendan added.
From humble beginnings as a small market garden in the 1970s, the family owned and operated park has developed into a tourist haven and is now the most awarded holiday park in the Northern Territory. As the gateway to the red centre, ancient cultures and breathtaking outback horizons, it’s not hard to see why this park has become a favourite for local, interstate and international guests.
BIG4 MacDonnell Range has been crowned best holiday park in the Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards 22 times and was recently named the top NT holiday park in the 2013 Holidays with Kids’ Readers’ Choice Awards. The multi-award winning park is nestled in the MacDonnell Ranges, a unique region of scenic bushland, waterholes and diverse wildlife. Surrounded by a red sand desert that stretches as far as the eye can see, the park is the perfect base for exploring Australia’s awe-inspiring outback.
The park offers a wide range of varied accommodation options from deluxe villas and simple cabins to large, grassed camping and caravan sites. The park is home to a swimming pool, kids’ activities, and landscaped gardens all in a quiet and tranquil environment with scenic mountain views.
